Ramadan Sakallı was born in 1991 in Kumsal, Nicosia. He has been working as a chair maker since the age of 16, a craft he learned from his father. His father had learned this trade many years ago from a Greek Cypriot and opened a shop near Anibal Restaurant in the 1980s. Later, in 2010, he moved the shop to Hamitköy.

After graduating from high school, Ramadan began making chairs alongside his father. He says that he only tried working for someone else once before, but he did not like it at all and quit after just one day. Today, he continues to practice his profession with passion together with his father.

In rush chair making, he says that he uses green and purple strips made from ciberunda / karabaşak between the weaves. The timber used for the chairs is brought from Türkiye. Since reeds are no longer commonly found in the country, he also imports them from Türkiye. He states that he can produce two chairs with a complete frame in one day.
